Stowe Congress

Following on from our successful Primary Congress earlier this month we are now looking ahead to our next tournament, the Stowe Congress, which will be taking place on 12th May. This will be open to all school age children.
You can download an entry form here, but can we bring to your attention to the fact that we have needed to increase the entry fee in order to cover our costs, and so entry is now £15 for all single players. The cost for siblings however remains the same. We have tried to delay any increase for as long as possible, but feel this still represents good overall value for money.

NSCA Senior Congress

Our Senior Congress proved to be as successful as our Junior one, both having taken place recently at the Obelisk Centre in Northampton. Again this was run using a computerised draw which looks to be the way going forward now and so we anticipate using this system in all future NSCA events.
Congratulations to the top players in each age group, who were as follows:
Under 12: Winner - Ramsey Dairi (6.0) Runner up - Wolf Sharp (3.0)
Under 14: Winner - George Calvert (4.0) Runners up - Vassily Mikhail Sagyaman (3.0) and Rishik Madhadi (3.0)

NSCA Junior Congress

Our Junior Congress, for players under 12, took place at the Obelisk Centre in Northampton recently and proved to be popular and successful. This was split into two sections - an under 12 and an under 10. New for us at this tournament was the computerisation of the draw, along with the uptodate scores and results being available to view during the day. This meant that the players and their parents could see how they were progressing via their mobile devices if they chose to, and also meant a speedier end to proceedings at the end of the day.
Congratulations to the winners in each age group, who were as follows:
Under 7: Winner - Abhiram Eedupuganti (3.5)
Under 8: Winner - Daniella Dairi (4.5) Runner up - Owen Shum (3.0)
Under 9: Winner - Aaryan Ragam (4.5) Runner Up - Finlay Taylor (4.0)
Under 10: Winner - Wolf Sharp (6.0) Runner up - Gregory Romanovych (5.0)
Under 11: Winner - Hugo Den Besten (4.0) Runners up - Hugo Singlehurst (4.0) and Pooja Koripalli (4.0)
Under 12: Winner - Ramsey Dairi (6.0) Runner up - Arsenii Korzun (5.0)
Well done not only to these players, but to everybody who took part in a successful congress.
All the details of each round and for each player along with all the final scores can be viewed online. For the under 10 section here, and for the under 12 section here.
Our Senior Congress takes place on Sunday 12th November, when this system will be in use again, and the detailed scores for that will be available here.

November Congresses

We are pleased to announce that our November Congress will indeed be going ahead, although due to venue restrictions, and the large number of previous entrants, we have this year split this into two congresses - a Junior Congress and a Senior Congress.
The Junior Congress will take place on Sunday November 5th, will have sections for under 8, under 9, under 11 and under 12 players (School years 7 and below) and an entry form can be downloaded here.
The Senior Congress will take place the following Sunday, November 12th, and will have sections for under 14, under 16 and under 18 players (School years 13 and below) and an entry form for this Congress can be downloaded here.

British Championships

This year the British Championships too place just over the border in Leicester, and a number of local players made the short trip to be part of this occasion.
Daniella Dairi played in the under 8 section, William Calvert in the Under 10 section, and George Calvert and Zac Paintin in the under 12 section.
They all gave it their best, but the two outstanding performances were from Ramsey Dairi, who won the under 12 section, and Mihir Sharma, who won the under 1450 grade Rapidplay. Congratulations to all these players, but especially to Ramsey and Mihir - well done to you both.
In the actual Championships, in which many Grand Masters took part, Toby Cox and an "old boy" from Northamptonshire, James Jackson, played. Meanwhile another old boy, Chris Gibson, played in the Major Open.  Also, not to be left out, Toby's father David played in the under 1450 grade Weekend Congress.
You can see all the results of all the sections from the British Championships by following this link to the dedicated website here.
Again, well done to everybody who took part.
